Your experience abroad as a volunteer or a working person starts at The Go-Abroad Fair
Is adventure the most important thing for you? Then finding a (voluntary) job abroad might be it for you. This will give you a valuable experience, as you will get to know the country's culture very well. With a paid job abroad, you earn a nice amount of money, which is always useful. Would you rather volunteer and help people? That is also an option. You will get in touch with the locals, have an unforgettable time and give something back to the country you are visiting! The possibilities for doing organised (voluntary) work abroad are diverse, so it is smart to get extra information at The Go-Abroad Fair on 28 and 29 November from the companies and organisations present.

After completing her higher education in Learning & Development in Organisations, Floor wanted to live abroad, although she didn't really have an idea yet where and how she wanted to organise her stay. A visit to The Go-Abroad Fair helped her on her way: "At The Go-Abroad Fair, I went looking for the possibilities. Beforehand, I had already checked which organisations had a stand at the fair, and I did have the idea that I wanted to become an au pair."
Floor's feeling was strengthened by conversations with former au pairs, after which she decided to gather additional information. "After The Go-Abroad Fair, I went to an information evening organised by Cultural Care; it became increasingly clear to me that this was something I was looking forward to. Through Cultural Care, I then entered a 'match system', a kind of 'Tinder for au pairs'. I got in touch with a family in New Jersey, half an hour away from New York, with whom it clicked immediately."
Although Covid caused some bumps in the road for a while, it became an experience of a lifetime. "The host family was great. The weekends I was free, and I also had two weeks holiday during which I could travel with friends - other au pairs. I also thought it was SO cool to live abroad for a whole year." That is why Floor has a valuable tip for all prospective visitors to The Go-Abroad Fair: "Don't just go and look at all those stands, but afterwards actually do it! Go and study or work abroad for a year; it is SO incredibly rewarding!"
